Tapered trimming weakens your grass

When trimming the edges of your grass, try to avoid cutting down into the thatch. While trimming the grass short can look more neat and kept in the short run, in the long run, it will wear down the edge and make the grass weak and susceptible to weed germination, and drought in the hot months. It is best to trim twice, once vertically and once horizontally, leaving the edge at a 90 degree angle. Avoid turning the trimmer down and tapering the edge into the thatch and dirt. The longer you can cut your grass overall, the healthier it will be.
